(Lokoja)
An Abuja-based public relations expert, Prince Emmanuel, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment of Mrs Lami Onayi Ahmed into the board of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
In a statement Prince Emmanuel Omadivi made available to Duaglobalnews, an online publication based in Lokoja on Saturday, he described the president’s decision as in consonance with gender balancing which the present administration in the country cherished and practised to boost good governance.
Reacting to Northern Group of professionals which questioned the replacement of Alhaji Mamood Adamu Atta with Mrs Ahmed, he said: “It is always funny when people hide under some unknown canopy to challenge the wisdom of government over certain decisions whose beginning they don’t know.
“For the information of the group, the Presidency looked at the situation in respect of gender and therefore decided to appoint a woman of substance on the board.
” We often times blame government for relegating women to the background and when the needful is done, we complain.
“For avoidance of doubt, Mrs Lami Onayi Ahmed has spent the greater part of her life in the Oil industry, beginning from National Oil now known as Con Oil.
“She has combined this important area with the care of the vulnerables.
” The group should, therefore, approach the Presidency for another appointment, rather than cast aspersions on an innocent personality that has made various indelible marks on the Nigerian economy.
“All said and done, Mrs Ahmed is from the same Zone, Kogi Central Senatorial district, as Alhaji Mamood Adamu Atta.”
