Brilliant, well dressed, cultured, smart, and full of quiet confidence, young Aminu recently walked into the bustling premises of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Abuja. where his father works in administration department. His mission was simple yet bold, he wanted to experience what it feels like to be a reporter, even if just for a day.
With a keen eye and eager spirit, Aminu watched as journalists hurried to meet deadlines, voices blended with the rhythmic clatter of keyboards, and stories unfolded in real time. He listened, learned, and even tried his hand at the basics of news reporting, a moment that lit a spark in him.
But for his father,Malam Aliyu, journalism for Aminu is only a taste of adventure. He said his son’s heart is set on Geology, a field he believes holds the key to unlocking Nigeria’s natural wealth.Aminu’s handling of microphone with dexterity his dreams lie in exploring the earth, understanding its mysteries, and finding solutions to the geological challenges facing his country.
Therefore, while Aminu may have briefly stepped into the world of journalism to experience how reporters entertain, educate, and inform society, his gaze remains firmly fixed on the ground beneath his feet, and the rich treasures it holds.
