By Barth Ikiebe.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has applauded his team’s hard-earned win over the Crocodiles of Lesotho.

The three-time African champions scraped past Leslie Notsi’s side 2-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday nine encounter in Polokwane on Friday night.

William Troost-Ekong and Jerome Akor Adams were on target for the Super Eagles in the game.

The Super Eagles remain in third position in Group C with 14 points.

Chelle said his players were under pressure to win the game.

The players further stated that they will keep fighting to secure a place at the mundial.

“Today, we are happy because we got the three points, we are still alive, maybe the journalists can do the mathematics for us.
I’m happy for my players, i want to congratulate them,” Chelle said during his interaction with the media after the game.

“We feel the pressure since March. Everytime my players come to camp they feel the pressure because it is important for Nigeria to be at the World Cup.

“We have a lot of pressure. This is not an explanation about our position, it is just the reality. May be the win will take away our pressure. It was not easy,” Chelle noted.
