The Founder of the Kogi Unity Movement (KUM), Abdullahi Ubeida, has called on members to set aside personal grudges and remain committed to the group’s mission of fostering unity across the state.
Speaking during the monthly meeting of the movement, Ubeida stressed that the vision of KUM was greater than any individual interest, urging members to put the collective good above personal differences.
“The name and ideals of this movement are above personal interest. Whoever harbors grudges against the group cannot stop its progress or the fulfillment of its fundamental objectives,” he stated.
Ubeida expressed concern that some members had withdrawn from meetings, emphasizing that the platform was open to all who genuinely love the unity of Kogi State.
He reiterated that no individual is bigger than the movement, stressing that while membership is voluntary, those who choose to remain must embrace mutual respect, peace, and the shared goal of unity.
He explained that as Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, he advised a head of the committee be appointed to draft the new constitution for the movement and, therefore, tendered his resignation from the committee.
Alhaji Sani Musa, Acting President of KUM, who chaired the meeting, urged members to interact with one another in the spirit of the movement’s name and guiding principles.
He recounted how he once had to apologize to a member who felt offended by protocol during a public activity involving the group, stressing the importance of humility and reconciliation.
Musa appealed to members to embrace forgiveness, put past grievances behind them, and work together with unity of purpose in order to move the movement forward.
