,,,,,Say IBB Did His Best, As A Leader, Despite Criticism.

By Correspondent in Minna.

.
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Sunday visited former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), at his Minna residence to celebrate him on his 84th birthday.

During the visit, Jonathan held a closed-door meeting with Babangida before presenting him with a birthday card.

Speaking afterward, he described the former military leader as “one of Nigeria’s finest and most committed leaders” who worked tirelessly for the country’s unity in diversity.

Extolling Babangida’s virtues, Jonathan said that despite criticisms, IBB “did his best for the country” during his time as Head of State. “Contrary to beliefs in some quarters, IBB did his best. That is why, till today, people still visit him regularly. His house is a Mecca of sorts, which tells you a lot about his character,” Jonathan noted.

The former president further praised Babangida’s pan-Nigerian outlook, stressing that he was not a sectional leader but one whose friendships and influence cut across all parts of the country.

He added: “General Babangida stands out clearly as a committed leader who wants the best for Nigeria. He takes the whole country as his own.”

Jonathan prayed for God to grant Babangida long life and strength to continue mentoring younger generations, saying: “IBB is one person we will continue to celebrate. He believes in the indivisibility of Nigeria and has done well for this country. We pray that God sustains him to keep guiding the younger ones.”
