Com.Abdullahi Adamu, the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area (LGA),
Has placed an immediate ban on all forms of illegal revenue collection on highways.
The Executive Chairman, disclosed the ban in a statement he signed and a copy available to Journalists in Lokoja on Monday.
The ban, according to him,specifically targets illegal checkpoints and toll collection around the Nataco–Okumi–Banda axis and the Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State, stressing that the directive takes immediate effect.
The move is aimed at ensuring the free movement of people and goods while curbing the persistent extortion and harassment of motorists and other road users by illegal revenue collectors,he added.
Adamu,who further disclosed that a dedicated taskforce has been constituted to enforce compliance, dismantle unauthorized checkpoints, and apprehend violators,urged .
residents and travelers to report any incidents to relevant authorities for swift action.
He warned all individuals and groups involved in the unlawful practice to vacate the highways and dismantle all barricades without delay, warning that defaulters risk facing stiff sanctions.
