The leadership of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association, Kogi State Branch, has postponed its planned Gala Night and Awards Ceremony earlier scheduled to take place on Saturday,July 26, 2025, in Lokoja.

Our correspondent reports that the decision was one of the key outcomes of a meeting held on Wednesday between the executive council of the association and members of the event planning committee.

One of the main reasons cited for the postponement was time constraints, as several individuals slated to receive awards expressed concerns over the short notice.

The meeting, which was chaired by the branch chairman, Engr. Mohammed Sagir, also resolved to include all members of the executive council in the planning committee.

This, according to the resolution, is aimed at ensuring more effective coordination and the successful realization of the event’s objectives.

Engr. Sagir described the forthcoming event as more than just an occasion for food and drinks, emphasizing that it is intended to boost the image and prestige of ABU, Zaria and as such, must be effectively organized.

He added that the event would serve as a platform for alumni from far and near to interact and exchange ideas on how to move the branch forward.

The meeting further noted that shifting the date would give award recipients more time to prepare and ensure broader participation, assuring that a new date for the event will be announced soon.
