The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, has emphasized the importance of community partnership and collaboration in enhancing police effectiveness and public safety.
He made the call during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Zone 7 Entrance Gate Project, an initiative spearheaded by the Zone 7 Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), held at the Zone 7 Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the Zone’s spokesperson, ASP Halima Mohammed, the project encompasses the renovation of the main entrance gate and the construction of a modern security post—both aimed at improving the operational environment for police officers and visitors alike.
In his special remarks, AIG Olaiya lauded the proactive efforts of the PCRC, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to community-led safety initiatives. He underscored that effective policing cannot be achieved in isolation, but through mutual trust, support, and partnership with the communities being served.
The well-attended event reflected the deepening relationship between the Police and the community. It also showcased the PCRC’s unwavering dedication to promoting peace, security, and civic engagement across the Zone.
Chief Otunba Bolaji Adigun, Chairman of the PCRC Zone 7, described the initiative as a strategic effort to enhance community policing and strengthen civic trust in law enforcement.
Goodwill messages poured in from dignitaries including Hajia Dr. Zainab Maina, former Minister of Women Affairs; Alhaji Haruna Rasheed; Dr. Rufus Ebegba; and the Chairman of the PCRC FCT Command, all of whom praised the PCRC for its pivotal role in fostering trust and cooperation between the Police and the public.
