Gunmen Kill 2,Police, Vigilante Rescue 14 on Edo Highway

Gunmen has ambushed a commercial vehicle on the Fugar-Agenebode Road in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, killing two passengers and abducting 14 others.

Our correspondent gathered that that the attackers reportedly opened fire indiscriminately on Friday ,blocking the road and forcing the vehicle to a halt and taken into the nearby forest before security forces arrived.

The Reporters also learned that, a swift response by a combined team of police operatives from Agenebode, local vigilantes, and hunters led to the rescue of the 14 abducted passengers.

The spokesperson for the Police Command Edo State , Moses Yamu, in a statement he signed and a copy available to the online publication on Sunday disclosed that the team pursued the assailants into the forest and engaged them in a gun battle along Obe Hill, near the pipeline route to Ajaokuta.

“All 14 abducted passengers were rescued alive. However, a 12-year-old girl was fatally shot by the fleeing kidnappers, and one female victim remains unaccounted for,”Yamu said.

He assured that the has mounted efforts to apprehend the attackers and locate the missing woman.
