The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA), Ile-Ife, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, on his recent election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

The WCO, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, is the highest decision-making body for customs operations globally. Adeniyi’s election took place during the concluding session of the 145th/146th WCO Council Meeting on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

In a congratulatory message signed by UNIFEMGA’s National President, Engr. Mohammed Buari, and made available in Abuja on Monday, the association described Adeniyi’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his leadership and professional excellence.

“Adeniyi’s election did not come as a surprise to us, given his outstanding track record since assuming office as Comptroller General,” the statement read.

The association praised Adeniyi, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, for becoming the first Nigerian Customs CG to attain such a prestigious global position, and expressed confidence that he will continue to demonstrate exemplary leadership on the international stage.

“We pray Allah (SWT) continues to guide him as he takes on this significant role. UNIFEMGA remains very proud of his achievements,”

“Once again, congratulations sir. We wish you the very best and Allah’s blessings in the discharge of this new assignment,”Buari added.
