Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has vowed to bring the full weight of justice upon those responsible for the brutal killing of retired military officer, Major Joe Ajayi, in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

During a condolence visit on Wednesday to the family of the slain officer in Odo-Ape community, Governor Ododo expressed deep sorrow over the loss of retired Major Joe Ajayi and pledged swift action to restore peace and security to Kogi West Senatorial District.

Describing Major Ajayi as a gallant patriot who served Nigeria with honour and dedication, the Governor said his murder was not just a personal tragedy but a wake-up call to intensify the fight against crime.

“We are here to sympathize with the family over the loss of our brother. I was personally devastated when I received the news. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on. It would be a betrayal of his legacy if we allow criminals to overrun our communities,” the Governor stated.

Ododo assured residents of Odo-Ape and the entire Kogi West zone that his administration would leave no stone unturned in hunting down the perpetrators and restoring law and order.

He issued a stern warning against the growing presence of criminal elements disguising themselves as investors, noting that the state would no longer tolerate unregulated access to land and resources.

“We will not allow individuals with questionable identities and intentions to settle among us. Traditional rulers must henceforth exercise caution in allocating community lands,” he said.

Governor Ododo, who earlier inspected a security outpost in the area, emphasized that any individual or group found aiding or shielding criminals would face the full wrath of the law.

Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, the late officer’s younger brother, Mr. Titus Ajayi, thanked the Governor for the visit, describing it as a source of great comfort and hope that justice will prevail.
