The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), in partnership with the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH), Lafia,has inaugurated a joint committee aimed at enhancing medical training and research.
The committee is chaired by Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, Vice Chancellor of FULafia, with Dr. Hassan Ikrama, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of FUTH, serving as Vice Chairman.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday in Lafia, Prof. Abdul-Rahman said the initiative is designed to improve the quality of medical education, foster collaborative research, and advance academic excellence.
He reaffirmed both institutions’ commitment to building a strong partnership that meets global standards in medical training and research.
In his remarks, Dr. Ikrama said the collaboration would significantly raise the standard of medical education in the state, positioning it as a center of academic and healthcare excellence.
He added that the medical school aims to produce highly skilled doctors capable of practicing effectively across all levels of the healthcare system globally.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Ikrama led committee members on a tour of key facilities at the teaching hospital, including lecture halls, laboratories, and student hostels.
