The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has given the green light for the construction of a new secondary school in Ganaja, a suburb of Lokoja.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Wemi Jones, made the announcement on Monday during a live radio programme, “The State of Kogi”.

He confirmed that construction work has already commenced, with plans to launch academic activities by September 2025.

Addressing concerns about the state of public school facilities, Jones assured that the government is actively working on improving dilapidated structures across the state.

Emphasizing the importance of quality education, the commissioner urged parents and guardians to take an active role in holding school leaders accountable, encouraging them to report any misconduct by principals to his office for disciplinary action.
