Prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have voiced their frustration over the poor internet connectivity in Okene, Kogi State, hindering their registration for the upcoming batch.
Our correspondent, who visited several cyber cafés on Tuesday, found numerous would-be corps members spending hours attempting to register for the national service, only to be met with repeated failure due to the unreliable internet connection.
Many of them expressed growing anxiety, as the registration deadline looms, yet they remain unable to complete the process.
In a call for urgent intervention, they have appealed to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and NYSC officials to step in and address the situation, urging for a swift resolution to prevent further delays in their registration.
A top NYSC official who spoke our correspondent from the headquarters of the organization in Abuja, on the condition of anonymity,attributed the frustration of the prospective corps members to abysmal poor network connectivity in the country.
Some potential corps members threatened to travel to Lokoja, kogi State capital which is about 80 kilometers from Okene to get registered,if the problem persists.
“NYSC headquarters has been trying its best possible to help its potential corps members get out of the problem but the greatest headache is the very poor network connectivity,” he said.
He urged those concerned to continue trying their luck, assuring them that with time, they would overcome the challenge.
Our correspondent reports that other customers at the cyber carfe are not excepted from the network logjam as they also spend several times to accomplish their aim.
He encouraged those facing difficulties to persist, reassuring them that with patience and perseverance, they would eventually conquer the challenge.
