Police Begin Investigation Into Killing of Ex-Federal Works Controller in Kwara

The Police Command in Kwara State has launched an investigation into the brutal murder of a retired Federal Controller of Works, AbdulRazaq Ajani, who was killed on New Year’s Day in Ilorin.

Our correspondent gathered that the retired civil engineer was attacked in his residence shortly after returning from Offa, where he had spent the Christmas and New Year holidays with his family.

Sources said the attack occurred around 3 p.m., moments after Ajani and his immediate family members returned from their trip.

According to witnesses and CCTV footage reviewed by the family, four young men, aged between 18 and 22, followed Ajani to his residence at Dele Gege Street, Aderoju area, off Obafemi Awolowo Road in Tanke, Ilorin.

A family member recounted, “The CCTV showed two of the attackers standing near the gate, one sipping water from a plastic bottle, while the other two casually walked into the compound.

“Mr. Ajani, noticing the strangers, went to meet them at the main door. They appeared to engage him in a brief discussion before suddenly attacking him.’

The assailants, armed with small axes, were said to have gruesomely hacked Ajani to death in the presence of his wife and children.

His immediate family members were also said to have watched , helplessy in horror as the attackers carried out their brutal act.

The suspects were said to have fled the scene swiftly after completing their assault.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, said, that information at the disposal of the police showed that the retired controller was killed in the Tanke area, adding that the Police have commenced an investigation into the tragic event.
