Pastor Ademola Popoola, Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State Chapter, has emphasized the urgent need for improved security and unity to combat corruption, which he described as a major barrier to Nigeria’s progress.
Speaking during the Seven Lessons Carol of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church in Ilorin on Sunday, the Pastor also called for enhanced measures, including the introduction of state policing, to address rising insecurity caused by banditry and insurgency.
The cleric, who stressed the deep impact of corruption on Nigeria’s development, urged Nigerians to reject plea bargaining in corruption cases while advocate for justice and accountability.
“Corruption continues to derail our growth as a nation,” he noted.
Reflecting on the event’s theme, “Glorious Birth,” Pastor Popoola reminded Christians that Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil, including corruption.
He called for love, Godliness, and justice to define the Christmas season and beyond.
CAN VC further urged the federal and state governments to address poverty by sincerely implementing the ₦70,000 minimum wage and prioritizing people-centered projects.

Special Apostle Prophet Tunde Olayode, Chairman of the 2024 Carol Committee, encouraged Christians to lead sin-free lives and let Christ’s birth inspire meaningful change.
