A member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, representing Ogori-Magongo Constituency, Hon. Bode Ogunmola, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for releasing funds to restore the vandalized Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation’s Ochaja sub-station.
Answering questions from journalists at the state Assembly Complex in Lokoja,
Hon. Ogunmola (PDP-Ogori/Magongo) praised Governor Ododo for his commitment to reviving the only radio station serving the Eastern Senatorial District.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Ogunmola expressed gratitude for the governor’s action in following through on his earlier pledge to overhaul the state’s broadcast services to restore communication to the district.
Ogunmola also recognized Governor Ododo’s broader commitment to state development, citing improvements in road infrastructure and empowerment programmes.
As a former Commissioner for Information, Ogunmola appealed to Governor Ododo to extend similar support to the State Printing Press and The Graphic Newspapers for improved productivity.
The state legislator also gave kudos to the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, for his dedication to the station’s restoration.
He expressed optimism that the expected benefits of Radio Kogi, Ochaja’s revival, would enhance access to information, entertainment, and education in the region.
Our correspondent recalls that the Ochaja sub-station in Dekina Local Government Area was vandalized by unknown attackers on June 5, 2023.
