Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has complied with an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as confirmed by his media office on Wednesday.

In a statement from Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, Bello’s decision followed consultations with family, legal advisors, and political associates.

Accompanied by prominent figures, Bello arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

He has faced allegations of financial impropriety during his tenure, with himself and three others charged with 19 counts of money laundering involving N80.2 billion.

Ozigi emphasized that Bello engaged with the EFCC to assert his innocence, declaring he has “nothing to hide and nothing to fear.” It noted his previous efforts to uphold his rights during the investigation.

“The case has been before a competent court, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been represented by his legal team at all hearings.

” It is essential for him to honor the EFCC’s invitation to clear his name,” he said.

Bello also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to sustainable economic development and the fight against corruption.

In April, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede pledged to resign if prosecution efforts against Bello did not proceed, asserting a commitment to ensure justice against those obstructing the investigation.
