Sen.Ali Ndume.
In a significant move on Wednesday, the Nigerian Senate ousted Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South from his position as Chief Whip, replacing him with Senator Tahir Monguno of APC Borno North.

Our correspondent reports that the decision came following a directive from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and National Secretary Senator Bashir Ajibola, communicated to the Senate via letter.

During the plenary session, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, put forward the request for a voice vote, which was unanimously supported by APC Senators.

Ndume’s removal as a Senate principal officer stemmed from his public criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Recently, he said that the President seemed “caged” in the Presidential Villa, suggesting that influential forces were hindering candid discussions with him.

Ndume argued that this situation prevented the President from understanding the extent of hunger across the nation.
