A dependable source from the water works told our correspondent on Tuesday in Lokoja that the vandals stormed the premises of the water works, situated on the marine section of Lokoja on Monday night.
He added that process, they cut and carted away the cable, thereby put to pay the functionality of the engineering supplying water to the public.

Our correspondent recalls that the Greater Lokoja Water has been down for the past three months while the state government is making conscious efforts to make it work again.
The vandalized old Lokoja water served as relief to the residents of Lokoja in the face of scarcity of public water spanning three months now.

Some members of the public,in their reaction, in separate interview with The Reporters on Tuesday regarding public water supply in Lokoja, described it as a “very sad” given the intense heat and the need for water to ease the hostile atmospheric condition in the area now.

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr.Yahaya Faruk, during a press conference on the issue, after inspecting the vanfalized equiptment, vowed that perpetrators would not go unpunished.
The Reporters gathered that some workers of the water works have been arrested by the police to answer some questions on the issue.
