Quite conscious of the of the role journalists in Kwara state are playing toward mitigating spread of dreaded Coronavirus,the State Technical Committee on COVID-19 has donated face masks to them for protection against the disease, in their daily activities.
The Chief Press Secretary(CPS) to the Kwara State Governor and Spokesman for the committee, Rafiu Ajakaye, delivered the face masks to the journalists on Monday in Ilorin.
The CPS commended his colleagues in the pen profession for the supports the goverment and the commitee have received from them so far in the fight against the pandemic.
“I want to thank my colleagues for their support; we have enjoyed a robust relationship so far, including at this extraordinary moment,” Ajakaye said.
“I hope to see us extend this relationship beyond the fight against COVID-19.
“I appeal to you all to please accept it as another support from the government at this trying time.
“I urge our colleagues to please continue to adhere strictly to all the safety protocols rolled out by the Federal Government, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols and the state government.”
Ajakaye appealed to the people of the state to take personal hygiene seriously by washing their hands regularly, use hand sanitiser, wear face masks in the public, and restrict their movement to only essential routines.
He said the fight against the novel virus was a collective responsibility which must not be left for the government alone.
