The decision by Dr.Chris Brooks,an African American who discovered his Nigerian ancestry and returned his family to Nigeria, after many years of family separation,has been described as “highly commendable and heart warming.”
Dr.Brooks is the author of “Omowale: A Man’s Justice Journey’.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, made the commendation in Lagos in a statement signed by Gabriel Odu of the
Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of the Commission and a copy made available to The Reporters.
The Commission’s boss,who noted that while some people were talking of “japa”, others were talking of “Omowale”, congratulated the author for taking such decision to return to his ancestral home.
She, however,urged the author to state what attracted him in making Nigeria his home, apart from his DNA.
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa further advised the author to present his book to other parts of the country.
Responding,Dr. Brooks,expressed happiness to be back home after hundreds of years of family separation, adding that the message in his book would resonate with Nigerians who live in the country and the Diaspora.
He also believed that Nigerians could overcome any obstacle if they remain united.
