ABU Alumin Association, Kogi State branch on Thursday, inaugurated its council of elders to advise it on the way forward in the implementation of its activities.
Our correspondent reports that the 8-man council is chaired by Dr.Denja Abdul.
Other members are:Dr.Danjuma, Mahmud,who is the Secretary General, World Wide,ABU Alumni Association, Alhaji Adama Yahaya, Chief Moses Tutu, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani, Alhaji Suleiman Saddiq and Hajia Lammy Saratu Lawal.
Mr.James Oyewole,Hajia Adiza Haruna,Hon.Bako Shigaba and Hajia Ramatu Umar Baba are also members of the council.
The Chairman of the branch of the association,Engr.Mohammed Sagir, in his brief speech,said the members of the council were selected based on their wealth of experience and contributions to the growth and development of the association.
He said the branch would rely on the elders of the council to avai it viable ideas that would propel development in the branch.
Speaking on behalf of the members, the chairman,Dr.Denja Abdul, thanked the members for reposing confidence in members of the council and promised that they would not betray that trust.
“We appreciate the wisdom of what is going on here. We are seen and heard ,far and near,it is a thing of joy that we are moving from one step to another.
“Our being members of this council is a call to service, there is no rest for man until he leaves this world,we will continue to work.
“We will romance with more elders in the branch to perform our function in advisory capacity as expected and cooperate with the exco so that we can grow,” he said.
Our correspondent further reports that the inauguration coincided with the monthly meeting of branch which took place at the NBA Secretariat,Lokoja where members deliberated on various ways to ensure the progress of the branch.
