The Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr Abdullahi Suke has made a personal donation of N10 million toward efforts aimed at checking the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
The governor made the donation shortly before the commencement of the weekly State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Lafia.
Meanwhile, members of the Nasarawa State Executive Council, as well as other political appointees, have agreed to donate 50 percent of their salaries for a three months as their contributio to the fight against Coronavirus in the state
The Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Culture, Comrade Dogo Shammah, disclosed this at a joint press briefing, shortly after the monthly executive council meeting, which held at the Government House, Lafia on Thursday.
Shammah said that during the meeting, it was unanimously agreed by concerned parties, to donate 50 per cent of their salaries, as support to government on the fight against the dreaded COVID-19.
The commissioner said the deductions would commence in June and end August.
The council, according to the Commissioner, also deliberated on the likelihood of civil servants in the state, also contributing to the fight against the pandemic, through the donation of part of their salaries.
He appealed to spirited individuals not to be left behind, urging them to join in supporting the state government wage war against the further spread of the pandemic in the state.
