A 25-year-old man, Ibrahim Aliyu, who lost two of his legs in a ghastly motor accident in Okene, Kogi State, about a month ago,has solicited for financial assistance from members of the public to enable him settle his medical bills.
He asked for the “milk of human kindness” on Friday at the Male surgical ward,Federal Teaching Hospital,FTH, Lokoja, Kogi State in an interview with our correspondent.
Aliyu, who has undergone surgery to amputate his two legs, disclosed that the accident happened at the Total axis of Okene-Ogaminana-Lokoja road about a month ago.
According to him, an articulated vehicle (tanker), carrying petroleum products in the same direction, lost break, control and rammed into the tricycle conveying him and other passengers en route Ogaminana from Okene.
The patient revealed that while the driver of the tricycle escaped unhurt, two other passengers died on the spot.
He described his medical bill and other expenses in connection with the accident as huge, adding that he had spent all his savings and now at the mercy of the public to continue to foot such bills.
Aliyu,an indigene of Okene,Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, said his father is a peasant farmer and his mother, a house wife.
He noted that his parents had spent the little money in their possession to foot his medical bills with nothing again to sustain his bed-ridden stay in the hospital, pending when he would be discharged.
“I use this medium to humbly ask for financial assistance from members of the public to enable me go through my condition successfully.
” Reeling in pain and pensive in mood,he said:”I am just helping somebody to sell products in a shop in Abuja with little income which is hardly enough for me to cope with the harsh economic condition in the country and now this accident happened.
‘Nothing is too small or too big,in terms of financial assistance, to see me through this painful experience I am going through in my life.”
The account details through which such financial assistance could be channelled , according to him, is:Atti Aliyu Omogu
