Betta Edu.
Barely 24 hours after she was suspended by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu over alleged N585 million scandal, the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Betta Edu, arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Headquarters on Tuesday in Abuja.
Edu was suspended over the alleged payment of N585 million humanitarian fund meant for payment of grants to vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Cross River and Ogun states. into a private account.
Edu is the first minister to be suspended from office since members of the Federal Executive Council were sworn in in August, 2023.
Our correspondent gathered that Edu’s suspension is sequel to widespread anger over the alleged fraud.
