The National Union of Road Transport of Nigeria, kogi state chapter, says it is set to revive town service in the state.
The secretary of the union in the state, Comr.Usman Teslim,

” If you around Lokoja, the state capital, you will see that we have taxi carbs operating, if at all you can identify them. Most of them being used for commercial purpose are not painted for members of the public to know that they are taxi carbs.
” In any ideal environment, there must be an identity of town service operation and this is lacking in the state, especially in Lokoja.
“The union is working very seriously to see how we can bring back the operation of town service where people can enjoy and move in a comfort of a vehicle that convey them from low density to high density environment,”Teslim added.
He further disclosed that the union would organize road, after the November 11,2023 governorship election in the state, show for people to know that town service is coming back again.
The union’s scribe called on the well-meaning kogites and the state government to come to aid of transporters, especially the effort to revive the town service operation being planned by the union.
Comr. Teslim identified the advantage of reviving the town service operation to include ensuring the security of passengers, especially curbing kidnapping to the barest minimum anong others.
Our correspondent reports that the emergence of commercial tricycle, popular called kekenapep and commercial motorcycle operation , otherwise known as Okada, some years back,”kills” motor township service operation in the state.
Some members of the public who spoke with our correspondent on the issue commended the union for the initiative,! adding that besides checking security of passengers, it would reduce the number of them often stranded at various bus stops in the state.
