The Secretary-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has advised the Muslim community in Nigeria to continue to develop their spirituality and closeness to Allah during the COVID-19 pandemic induced lockdown in the country.
Oloyede gave the advice in a statement signed by Nwoha, Yusuf, Director of Administration of NSCIA in Abuja as Muslims across the world observe prayers at home and constrained from attending Juma’h services.
The Secretary-General also urged the Muslims to make a better use of the moment by tapping from the abundant sermons available on the internet linking up with https://muslimcentral.com, https://www.almaghrib.online and https://www.islamicity.org among others.
Duaglobalnews correspondent in Lokoja, capital of kogi state, recalls that Muslims in the state complied with the order restraining them from attending Jumma services as they stayed off Jumat mosque last Friday.
In similar vein, the Christian community in Lokoja and other parts of the state did not hold their Sunday services in compliance with government directive to stop that for the time being, to discourage social contact which could aid the spread of Coronavrus in the state.
Our correspondent,who visited some churches such as Dunamis and Grace of God, among other churches located along Ganaja-Lokoja road reports that the churches were under lock and key.
Meanwhile, partial compliance to the order restricting human and vehicular movement in the state remains the vogue on Sunday as some residents were seen in some places pursuing their various ends meets, especially in Lokoja-Obajana the state capital.
The number of Coronavrus cases has continued on the increase, hitting 224, 27 discharged and 5 deaths as at April 5.
