The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,Kogi State House of Assembly electíon, for Ogorimagongo Constituency,March this year,Mr Bode Ogumola, says youth employment would be his priority for his Constituency, if elected.
Ogunmola,a one-time Commissioner of Information and Vice Chairman, Ogorimagongo Local Governnent Area of kogi state, made the promise on Tuesday in Lokoja while informing Journalists of his political ambition.
The candidate decried the high rate of youth unemployment in his constituency, lamenting that the social malaise remained the shouting factor among the causes of insecurity and other social and economic problems in the area and the state at large.
According to him, it is disheartening seeing thousands of youths who parents had trained to acquire education with hard earned financial and other resources, only to remain jobless.
He further promised that he would not betray the trust of the people, adding that he would be truthful in dealing with his people and use his legislative connection to attract job opportunities for the youth, to reduce crime, ensure peace and meaningful development of his constituency.
Ogunmola, who is the immediate past publicity secretary of PDP in the state ,described the large turn out of people at the recent visit of the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was on a campaign rally in Lokoja as a manifestation of Atiku’s and PDP’s popularity among Nigerians, desirous of realistic change in their social and economic life.
He also promised to be exemplary in his political and legislative activities by taking positive steps that would motivate others to emulate him, for them to attain greater heights in their social and spheres of life.
“As a farmer, I intend to increase my agrcultural activities, even as a legislator,to garner much produce. By the time my people see that my effort is yielding the desired profits, they would be motivated to join me as I intend to help them with fertilizer and other agro-allied inputs to boost food production and safety,”he said.
On the chances of PDP winning comfortably in the forthcoming general electíons in the country, Ogunmola said that Nigerians had tasted two different governments since the down of democracy in 1999, adding that they now know, that PDP is the best party to help them fulfill their yearnings and aspirations.
Ogunmola, however, urged those planning to rig the forthcoming general electíons to think twice, nothing that with the laudable, technologically improved election processes by INEC, free, fair and credible polls would be the outcome of the polls.
He called on Journalists in the state to join him in realising his political dream, through adequate publicity to ensure a better Ogorimagongo Constituency and kogi state in general.
In his vote of thanks, a community leader in Ogori,Chief Bola Boro, described Bode Ogumola as a politician of integrity who has won the heart and trust of his people, adding that his endearing pedigree, in his public service and private life, would surely boost his electoral victory.
