The joy of 30 children in Kogi state was cut short on Monday when a hit and run tipper driver rammed his his vehicle into their 60-year-old father,Abdulsalam Ibrahim and his passenger and killed them instantly.
The Reporters gathered that Ibrahim,a commercial motorcyclist, met his tragic death with his passenger at Ganaja Junction in Lokoja.
Giving insight into the accident in an interview with Journalists, Mal.Baba-Aliyu said that Ibrahim was trying to avoid hitting a commercial tricycle (Keke-NAPEP) heading towards him from the opposite direction when the sad incident happened.
Baba-Aliyu, who is the Chairman, Kogi Motorcycle Riders’ Association, said that the deceased was ‘a bonifide member of the union.”

Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps Commander in Kogi state, Stephen Dawulung,who confirmed the accident, described it as “tragic and very unfortunate.
“The accident has cut short the life of the breadwinner of 30 children,” he said.
The FRSC boss in the state explained that Ibrahim and his passengers were hit by the tipper from behind and crushed him and the passenger he was carrying.
He traced the accident to hit and run driver, adding that the driver disappeared before the arrival of his men to the scene of the accident.
“By the time we responded to a distress call to the area, immediately it happened, the driver and the tipper were no where to be found.
“Eye witnesses told us that immediately the incident happened, tipper driver zoomed off,leaving the victim’s mangled bodies on the road for sympathisers, ” he said.
He said that his officers had deposited the corpse of Ibrahim at the Morgue of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja and that of the passenger at Ankuri hospital morgue, Lokoja.
Dawulung urged motorists to always observe safety measures, including speed limit, most especially while moving within the metropolis.
He also advised motorcyclists to always put on their helmet, to avoid head injuries in the event of any accident.
