Kidnappers have again struck in kogi state, abducting a couple,a legal practitioner, a medical doctor and two other victims and inflicted injury on those who escaped being kidnapped.
Our Correspondent gathered that the victims were Kidnapped at 2p.m on Tuesday on Itobe-Ajaokuta road while returning from a burial ceremony that took place at a village near Alloma, the headquarters of Ofu Local Governnent Area of the state.
Sources also told The Reporters that the Kidnappers, who laid siege for their victims, pounced on them, shooting sporadically and led seven of them into near bush.
Our Correspondent further gathered that the medical doctor, whose name could not be ascertained at the time of this report, was returning from Prince Abubakar Audu University, Teaching Hospital, Anyigba, where he went on an official assignment when he was Kidnapped.
The online publication also gathered that escapees of kidnappers’ siege were taken said to Federal Medical Centre, lokoja medical attention,following injuries they sustained from the unfortunate event.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our Correspondent in Lokoja.
He told The Reporters that seven persons were Kidnapped during the incident, adding that six persons, who were rescued with bullets wounds were taken to the Federal Medical Centre, lokoja for treatment.
Aya added that the Commissioner of Police,CP Edward Egbuka, had drafted the men of the Rapid Response Squad to the area to rescue the victims.
According to him,the Command’s combined manhunt for the rescue of other victims and arrest of the kidnappers comprised of sister security agencies and vigilantes.
The Reporters recalls that Alhaji Isa Ozi-Salami, a member representing Kogi State on the Governing Board of the Hydroelectric Power Area Producing Development Commission, HYPPADEC,who was kidnapped at Ogaminana, headquarters of Adavi Local Governnent Area of the state about a month ago regained his freedom few days ago.
