Adavi 3: Council boss seeks public cooperation to bring criminals to justice

The Chairman,Adavi Local Governnent Area of kogi state, Mr Joseph Omuya Salami, has tasked peace-loving citizens and residents of the area to help in providing intelligent information for security agencies to enable them arrest criminals disturbing peace and claiming lives in the area.

He also called on them to notify the authorities of the council, if they see strange faces within the vicinity..

The chairman made the call in a statement on Saturday in Ogaminana, signed by Engr. M. Jamiu Habeeb, SA, Media &Publicity to the council.

Omuya,who is also the Chief Security Officer of the council, confirmed that suspected gunmen attacked the Department of Quick Response Unit deployed to Adavi Police Divisional Headquarters in the Central Senatorial district of kogi state and killed three officers during the shootout.between and the Hoodlums on Saturday.

The chairman, who disclosed that he rushed to the police station around 12:45:a.m when the information got to him, gave situation report as to what led to the killing of the three police men.

He said:” Unknown gunmen came around few minutes past 0:00hrs, engaged policemen but were later repelled by the Gallant Officers. Unfortunately, three police operatives paid the supreme price during the shootout”.

‘Omuya,who expressed concern over the ugly incident and the lives lost in the course of duty, condoled with Nigeria Police, the family of the deceased, and assured his readiness of ensuring that the Hoodlums were apprehended and brought to justice.

“It is a terrible situation, we must therefore cooperate with security agencies to ensure that the peace we have been enjoying is sustained.

” I know the effort the government of his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is putting in place to free the state from all forms of criminality, we will continue to do our best to ensure that our land is safe”, the council boss assured.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state,SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement he sent to The Reporters on the issue, confirm that the command lost three of its men in the event.

He said the command sent some of its officers to the area to restore peace.
