Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District in the National Assembly on Saturday, paid back to his constituency by presenting to them, various skills acquisition items to boost their social and economic development.
Presenting the items which include 20 vehicles, 120 motorcycles, 14 tricycles among other items, the Senator urged the beneficiaries to make best and judicious use of the items.
“I have deliberately focused on programmes that will have direct impacts on the lives of the people in the areas of education, road, water, health, agriculture as well other infrastructure and human capital development generally,” he said.
Umar disclosed that he had also empowered his constituents with various skills acquisition programmes to instil in them the essence of self reliance among advantages.
The Senator added that the effort was also to complement the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in addressing the needs of people of North who he noted had long been neglected over the years.
In his speech at the mega empowerment programne held at Kwara state Polytechnic Mini stadium, Moro Local Governnent Area of Kwara state, the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, commended the Senator and expressed the willingness of the Buhari-led administration to develop the country, to make better for all Nigerians.
Lawan said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was working hard to fix infrastructural challenges facing the nation and urged all Nigerians to continue to support the government.
He said;” Federal government of president Muhammadu Buhari is in a hurry, we are in a hurry to develop Nigeria, in four years between 2019 and 2023 by the grace of God, Nigeria would have been turned into an infrastructure laboratory.
“This is because every part of Nigeria;from East to the West to the North to the South, in the East, the second Niger bridge today is about 75 per cent completion.
” The synergy between our state and Federal government of Nigeria is working; is making Nigeria to develop. We have never seen infrastructure like that of this administration” he said.
Lawan, who noted that the constituency projects of Senator Umar was part of his Constituency project aimed at having direct touch on the needs of the communities, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them.
“Please don’t sell whatever you are given, if you sell whatever is given to you, you are doing injustice to yourself, you are also doing injustice to those who would have benefited.Use whatever you are given because it is meant to make your life better,” he urged the beneficiaries.
Our Correspondent reports that many important dignitaries, including politicians among other segments of the population in and outside the state, attended the occasion.
