The Chairman, stakeholders of All Farmers Association of Nigeria(AFAN), Dr Tunde Arosanyin, has urged the Federal government to ensure that agricultural inputs get to the real farmers, to boost food, food security,reduce prices of food and hunger in the country.
Arosanyin,who gave the advice while addressing Journalists in Ilorin, called on government to lay more emphasis on the timely and adequate delivery of fertilizer and seeds get to the authentic farmers to boost its success on the agricultural policy and programmes it would boost food production in the country.
The agriculture expert advised Dr Mohammed Abubakar, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, to emulate electronic wallet of the President, African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina when he was minister of agriculture, whose method he noted ensured that subsidized fertilizer and seeds get to rural farmers as and when due.
The Chairman, stakeholders of AFAN, however,commended the minister of agriculture for issuing policy statement on how Bank of Agriculture would get back on track as well as visiting agriculture research institutes, to feel their pulse.
On the crisis rocking AFAN, Dr Arosanyin emphasized that the tenure of Architect Kabir Ibrahim-led executive expired in June 2019, adding that the circumstances that led to emergence of Mr Mudi Farouk- led executive was not known to the constitution of the association.
He disclosed that arrangements were ongoing to elect new officers inline with constitution of the association, promising that such would be communicated to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, very soon.
