The Proprietor,Baptist High School, Lokoja, Kogi State, Rev. Theophilus Ajala, has stressed the need for Christians to take effective care of the aged, describing the aged as the fountain where the young ones draw knowledge, wisdom and moral tone to move the society forward.

Pa Elkana Abimbola Adedoyin Adedokun. (71) was one the aged celebrated at the event.
The educationalist, who made the call on Sunday at the ceremony marking the aged, organised by Baptist Church, Lokoja said it was highly time the aged were celebrated while alive to show that the society cares for them.
Rev.Ajala, however, urged the aged not to be threatened by their age but seen it as an opportunity to be alive and in good health, reminding them that “God’s promise to anyone in His vineyards is protection and provision.”
He described the aged as those who followed God in all honesty, assuring them that they would receive the package and reward for working with God, whole heatedly, adding that since they obeyed God, they were entitled to ask their creator for their inheritance while alive.
According to the cleric, “even God has assured His people, in all ramifications of life, good health, finance and power, He will give to them.”
Our Correspondent reports that many elders in their 70s and 80s that had served the ministry in various capacity graced the occasion.
The title of the service is “Septuagenarian and octogenarian.”
