The National President,Magongo Development Association, Kogi State, Prince Jordan Akpata,has sent Save Our Soul(SOS) to the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for rescue over kidnapping, armed robbery among other crime and criminality going on Ageva-Ogori-Magongo road in the state.
In a statement he made available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Friday, Akpata noted that the road had been turned to the den of robbers and a haven for kidnappers.
He,therefore, sought the governor’s prompt fatherly intervention in returning the road to safety it was known.”
He expressed dismay that in spite the fact that the people of Ogori/Magongo Communities had continued to sniff around for bad elements within their localities, using their indigenous hunters, there had not been end in sight for them to breath fresh over the frightening developmnt.
” We hereby humbly request the following:That both the Chairman of Okene and Ogori/Magongo LGAs be directed to meet and map out strategies for arresting the ugly trend.
“That the Police and other sister agencies should review their strategies for policing the road; increase the number of check points between Ageva and Magongo road and at best, employ the assistance of personnel of the Nigerian Army.
“Your Excellency Sir, this call has become too necessary and urgent, to deliver the people of the affected communities and travelers transiting the area from the incessant kidnapping which occurs almost on weekly basis.
“We have much confidence in the ability and agility of the talk and do friend of the masses Governor and waiting eagerly for prompt and positive response, Akpata said.
The national president commended the governor for his efforts,so far, his exploits recorded in the Security Sector which he said remained second to none, as seen in the way he tackled insecurity issues in the state.
Akpata said insecurity, until the intervention of the governor, was characterised by incessant bank robbery, kidnapping, house-to-house harassments to mention but a few.
” The way he achieved this feat has endeared his excellency to the hearts of the people of Kogi State, though there have been pockets of minor incidences in some places, master-minded by few whose intention it is to discredit these noble achievements of his excellency and his team.
“Your Excellency, it is in the light of the above that we write to intimate you with the ugly development that is gradually turning the road linking Ageva and Magongo to a den of robbers and a haven for kidnappers
“We seek your prompt fatherly intervention in returning the road to safety, as it was known to be,” he said.
