In his efforts to boost healthcare delivery in his Senatorial district, Sen.Smart Adeyemi (APC Kogi West), on Tuesday, flagged off the Healthcare Insurance scheme for no fewer than 1,000 pregnant women across the seven local government areas of the senatorial district.

Adeyemi, while speaking at the ceremony at Primary Healthcare centre in Lokoja, said his intervention on the health of pregnant women was an effort to complement what the State governor, Yahaya Bello, had been doing in the health sector in the State

He explained that the scheme would cover pregnant women concerned from the conception, antenatal, point of delivery and in case of operation,as the case might be.

He, however, called on pregnant women in Kogi West to come out and register for the scheme, assuring them that the scheme would them the opportunity to access free antenatal and free drugs for nine months.

The Senator promised that the next healthcare insurance scheme would be launched for aged from 70 and above, noting that he was motivated by the fact the the State government had established Kogi Primary Health Insurance programme in Kogi State.

On education, the lawmaker said that by October 2021, he would revive the school bursary for the students of higher institutions of learning in Kogi West.

He appealed to all the aggrieved party faithful who felt slighted during the just concluded All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Kogi State to forgive and forget, stressing that everybody must come together in the party as one family.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, commended the initiative of Senator Adeyemi for having pregnant women on his mind at a crucial stage of their pregnancy

Ayoade, therefore, called on other lawmakers, state and federal and all other political office holders, to emulate the gesture demonstrated by Senator Adeymi, whom she described as the man of the masses .
