The Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) kwara state command has called on communities in Kwara state, especially South Senatorial district, to be security conscious, following the repel by the combined team of vigilante, Civil Defence and Police Force of suspected herders loaded in trucks, as they made effort to enter Ipee township from other states.

The spokesperson of the NSCDC in the state, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, made the call in a statement a copy of which is made available to The Reporters on Thursday in Ilorin.

He said,“At about 0800hrs on Tuesday 4th May 2021 four (4) trucks, fully loaded with Fulani/Bororo herdsmen entered Ipee township but unfortunately for them, the people of Ipee and all the local vigillantes came out enmasse to disallow them from entering the town.

“This is with the help of NSCDC officers in Ipee and the NPF who led them out with their patrol van.

“We received an information that Herders from OSUN and ONDO states were moving into the Ipee town that shares boundary with Offa local government Area. These Herders were denied by Ondo and Osun States, due to the criminal activities being carried out by the group.

“We also identified that Herders that came into boundary were loaded with four trailers along side the cattle wanted to settle in offa. On this note, security agencies in offa intercepted and led them out toward boundary between Osun and kwara states”.

“NSCDC call on the people of Kwara communities to be proactive and report any strange movement in their vicinities to the security agencies.

“We also advised the towns that border with offa to be proactively, promptly raise alarm, wherever they notice or suspect any strange movement”

“They should be very security conscious about bandits and also notify peoples around them and report to security agencies nearest to them.”
