Nemesis on Sunday caught up with a suspected kidnapper as vigilante groups and local hunters in Akunu Akoko in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo state shot him dead and rescued seven victims abducted by him and colleagues in crime.

The Reporters gathered that the suspects had kidnapped the seven travellers on Saturday who were travelling to the northern part of the country and matched them into the forest in the area.

The gunmen were said to have stopped the victims’ vehicle at Akunu Akoko, a boundary community between Ondo state and Edo state and matched them to the forest, asking for millions of naira in ransom.

According to a source, the people of Akunu Akoko, smelling rat, noticed the empty vehicle and suspected that the occupants of the vehicle had been abducted, hence they began the rescue operation by giving the suspects hot chase which led to the killing of one of them and secured the releaae of the victims.

Our correspondent reports that kidnapping tops in the list of crime being perpetrated against innocent persons in many parts of the country in what the perpetrators term a “lucrative business.”
