A multiple road accident on Saturday, consumed no fewer than 17 of the 20 victims, The Reporters,an online publication has reported.
Our correspondent reports that the 17 passengers were burnt beyond recognition at Olokonla village on Bode-Saadu-Jebba express way in Moro Local Government Area of the state.
A couple was said to have, however, survived the auto accident, a tragedy said to have involved three vehicles at about 3 a m.
The Reporters further reports that a Blue colour commercial vehicle, Mark Truck with GGE614XM, white colour commercial Mitsubishi Canter Truck BRK534YX and white colour Toyota Hummer bus with registration number KEY479YE were involved in the crash
Eye witness account said the driver of the Toyota bus lost control while trying to overtake a lorry loaded with pepper and a truck, adding that in the process the driver had head-on collision with another truck coming in the opposite direction and set the vehicles ablaze.
Others traced the accident to speeding and wrongful overtaking.
The Kwara state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Jonathan Owoade and the Director of the state Fire Service, Falade Olumuyiwa John, confirmed the accident.
The two officers urged drivers to always drive with caution and in consonance with traffic rules and regulations to save lives and property.
