An articulated vehicle (tanker), carrying petrol and passing through Jebba,Moro Local Government Area of Kwara state on Wednesday morning, lost control, spilled the content,exploded, rammed into buildings and killed at least six persons and burnt upto 30 houses, including shops.
Eyewitnesses told The Reporters, an online publication, that the quick response by the men of the state fire service brought the fire under control.
Meanwhile,Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives and property in the fire incident,describing the development as devastating and sad,in a statement.
The Governor said“ It is very sad, especially with the loss of lives and millions of naira worth of property and farmlands.”
He urged the victims to take heart and remain calm as believers, adding that he has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to quickly move in to determine the material loss.
AbdulRahzaq, who commended the State Fire Service and other responders for their efforts which he noted, helped to curtail the raging inferno and minimised the loss of lives,prayed God Almighty to repose the souls of the deceased.
