Exactly a week after a traditional ruler in Kogi state, the acting Eje of Ankpa,kogi state, Alhaji Shuaibu Usman was abducted by yet to be identified gunmen, a former Chairman, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Barr Isaac Emmanuel Ekpa, suffered similar circumstance following Friday.
Sources said Epka was Kidnapped around Ochadamu in Ofu Local Government Area of the state on his way home while preparing for the burial of his father.
They added that the kidnappers were demanding for N25 million ransom while members of the family of Ekpa wete negotiating for N1 million to secure his freedom.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO/ for the Police Command in kogi state,DSP Williams Ayah,who confirmed the abduction said a patrol team attached to the Ofu area discovered an abandoned car along the road in Ochadamu area.
He said that on close scrutiny, the team found an abandoned ID card in the vehicle bearing the name of Emmanuel Isaac Ekpa, apparently giving glue to the fact that, Ekpa was a victim of kidnapping.
According to Ayah, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ayuba Edeh, had directed men of the command to track the culprits and rescue the victim.
Meanwhile, the National President of Igala Youth Council(IYC), Mr Collins Onogwu, has called on youths in the East Senatorial district of the state to desist from such ugly act in interest of peace and development of the area.
Onogwu made the call in Lokoja in a statement, also urged the state government to beef up Security in the state generally to avoid further occurrences.
He described the recent Kidnapping of the Acting Ejeh of Ankpa, Alhaji Shuaibu Usman and former chairman, Olamaboro Local Government Area,Barr. Ekpa, as unacceptable.
The IYC boss also appealed to the traditional rulers in the state to educate and caution their subjects on the need eschew social vices, recalling that the state had been enjoying relative peace for some time now before the negative development.
