As many Nigerians grave foreign drugs, Dr Susana Adams, a practioner and CEO, PhysiQ Medical Centre, has advocated the use of natural herbs as alternative way of healing people suffering from one form of ailment or the other.
Adams disclose this at the Grand Opening of her PhysiQ Wellness Centre, at Zone B, Apo Legislators’ Quarters, on Saturday in. Abuja.
He explained that her reason being that natural herbs were born of the fact that they could actually jeal, even better than the normal drugs.
“I have come to realise that, Nigerians crave for fereign drugs rather than relying on natural ways of healing.
“They are looking for the Internet, bringing foreign foods they don’t even know the drugs how they were manufactured or processed,” she said.Â
This, she said, was what motivated her to set up a lifestyle medicine centre, PhysiQ Medocal Centre, assuring that the facility would avail her the opportunity to teach people on how to even start local treatment of some ailments.
“By using local foods like vegetables, okro, and fruits to achieve wellness. So far, this method has really paid off by a way of healing people with one form of ailment or the other.Â
“Now, because we do food as medicine, we are now on the preventive side of medicine. of course, we are now medically guided in terms of wellness.Â
“That is, everybody in the centre, is either a medical doctor, pharmacist, or licensed nutritionist, especially in area of guidance/counselling. We work together with orthodox medicine. That is why we are integrative.
” We equally send people for referal, surgery if need be, but the most important thing is that, you need to add healthy eating, exercise, check your lifestyle and the kind of food you eat to ensure wellness, otherwise, there is just no way you can achieve wellness.
However, nobody is denying the use orthodox of drugs, but there are instances you just need natural foods to be healed,”she added.
When asked the reason why she wrote a book on wellness, she said it was mainly targeted at that the last man in the society, to educate him on the importance of alternative medicine.Â
“The book is basically to create awareness that, truly, with local alternatives such as okro, vegetables, fruits could actually cure some ailments we were battling with,”she further explained.
According to the health expert,whoever takes time to go through with the setting up of centre will be discouraged to continue embarking on medical tours.
