The Kogi State Coordinator of the Global Association of Christian and Muslim Youths for Peace and Development, Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale, has called on young people to commit themselves to peace-building and meaningful development.
He urged youths in Kogi State and across Nigeria not to allow themselves to be used for kidnapping, violence, or any act capable of undermining societal stability.
Ojodale made the appeal in a statement in which he condemned the recent attack on a church in Ejiba that resulted in the abduction of an unspecified number of worshippers.
Describing the incident as “unfortunate,” he stressed that such criminal acts are often perpetrated by misguided young people, not elders.
He encouraged youths to prioritize hard work and integrity over the growing “get-rich-quick” mentality.
The Coordinator commended Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for his efforts to strengthen security in the state, noting that despite isolated incidents, Kogi remains one of the most peaceful states in the country.
Ojodale disclosed plans by the association to deepen interfaith dialogue and organise programmes that promote unity, peace, and mutual understanding among different religious groups.
He prayed for the safe release of the abducted worshippers and expressed confidence in both the Federal and State Governments to secure their unconditional freedom.
