Crime Reporters Global, Nigeria has called on security agencies across the country to urgently review and strengthen their operational strategies in response to a renewed wave of terrorist and bandit attacks.
The association gave the advice in Abuja during its routine situation review session, led by its National Chairman, Comrade Tita Onyebuchi Nze, and Secretary-General, Barth Ikiebe.
The association expressed alarm over the escalating attacks by bandits and armed criminal groups in several parts of the country.
“It is becoming an unacceptable and deeply worrisome trend to hear the harrowing experiences of victims of these attacks.
“There is an urgent need for security agencies in Nigeria to step up their operations and reassess their strategies to effectively curb the activities of these hoodlums and criminal elements,”the association said.
Crime Reporters Global expressed particular concern over recent incidents in Kebbi, Kwara, and Niger States, as well as the killing of a senior military officer in Borno,Brig.-Gen.Musa Uba.
“We call on the Military, Police, DSS, and other security and paramilitary agencies to work collaboratively and decisively to subdue the rising wave of criminality in the country,” Crime Reporters added.
The group also urged the Federal Government to urgently develop comprehensive measures to tackle the resurgence of kidnapping, abduction, and other violent crimes carried out.
“Government at all levels must rise to the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of every citizen, regardless of their location,” it stated.
Crime Reporters Global also appealed to school owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders to treat security matters with utmost seriousness and adhere strictly to safety advisories to minimize vulnerability to attacks.
