President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Olusegun Awolowo, grandson of the late statesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
In a statement released late Thursday and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Segun Awolowo’s passing at 62 as “unfortunate and a tragic loss not only to the Awolowo family, but to the entire nation.”
President Tinubu praised the late Awolowo for upholding the ideals and dignity of the Awolowo lineage, noting that he lived a life marked by distinction, integrity, and service.
“Segun exemplified the Awolowo pedigree in appearance, character, and demeanour,” the President said, adding that his contributions would be remembered with honour and admiration.
