The Nigerian Press Council (NPC ) has expressed a deep sense of loss over the passing of an iconic journalist and co-founder of the Newswatch Magazine, Mr. Dan Agbese, who died on Monday at the age of 81.

A statement by the Council’s Director, Research and Documentation, Mr. Dan Ede, quoted the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council, Dr. Dili Ezughah, as saying that “Mr. Agbese died at a time his wealth of experience and inimitable professionalism were needed to sanitize the nation’s media ecosystem”.

Dr. Ezughah, while extending his condolences to Mr. Agbese’s immediate family as well as the country’s media industry, said he would be highly missed by the media world.

Similarly, the Nigerian Press Council also mourns the sudden death of another media professional, Director, Media and Communications of the Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, Mr. Norbert Okolie.
Okolie, a photo journalist, was a former Chairman of the Enugu State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
