The meeting in session.The Kogi State Government has been urged to demonstrate stronger political will in supporting initiatives aimed at resolving boundary disputes both within and outside the state.
This call was made by members of the Executive Council of the Kogi Central Think Tank Forum (KCTTF) during their 46th meeting held in Lokoja on Thursday.
The forum noted that Kogi State shares multiple internal and external boundaries,particularly the Kogi,Edo boundary at Okpella,making it necessary for the government to provide both financial and moral support to ongoing reconciliation and demarcation efforts.
KCTTF stressed that although concerned stakeholders and well-meaning citizens are making significant efforts to address these disputes, complementary action from the state government is essential to ensure lasting peace across local government areas and with neighbouring states.
The meeting also congratulated Hon. Bode Ogunmola on his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his move as timely and reflective of the wishes of his constituents.
The meeting expressed shock over the death of the first elected chairman of Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Ozigi who died at the age of 74.
Adai Moses Ovurevu of Adavi Local Government Area of the state,described the late leader as a humble man who devoted himself to the social and economic well-being of the people of Adavi Local Government Area.
Similarly, Elder Chief Stephen Jimoh Yakubu, praised him as highly disciplined and technologically resourceful, noting that he served his community with distinction.
Alhaji Jafaru Mohammed ,while in the council during the administration of late Asema as Chairman described the late Asema as a good and consistent administrator who had the welfare of the people at heart.
The meeting also expressed condolence over the death of Prof.Olugbemiro Akerejola, describing him as a detribalized, patriotic and a good community leader who participated actively on issues concerning the progress of Egbiraland, even though we was an Ogori person
The chairman of the Forum,Dr. Haroun Opotu Yussuff, who also paid tribute to the late professor, urged his son, retired Major General Erema Akerejola,to emulate his father’s foot step.
“We will surely miss the erudite and a good community leader,”Dr. Yussuff said.
