Delta State’s drive to attract investments and stimulate economic growth has received a major boost with the rollout of multiple projects under the Delta Special Economic Zone, designed to fast-track industrial expansion and create over 280,000 jobs.

The Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. (Barr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking on the weekly public affairs programme, Orientation Panorama Platform on Voice of Delta Radio, Asaba.

He highlighted flagship initiatives such as the Kwale Industrial Park, the Koko Free Trade Zone, Warri Industrial Business Park, ICT Park Asaba, Fertilizer Blending Plant in Ika North East, the Delta Green Agro-Allied Industrial Zone at Osubi, and the Delta Animal Fodder Farm and Tomato Processing Facility at Ute-Ogbeje.

According to him, the Kwale Industrial Park, a major component of the Special Economic Zone, is poised to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, attract investments across various sectors, and significantly boost the state’s economy.

The 1,000-hectare facility, located along the Ughelli–Asaba Expressway, is expected to enhance infrastructure and improve power supply within the region.

,Dr. Oghenesivbe said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has shown unwavering commitment toward advancing the state’s development agenda. He expressed confidence that the vision behind the Delta Special Economic Zone will be sustained beyond the current administration.

He added that the state government has already established structures to ensure long-term sustainability, focusing on job creation and balanced economic growth across the three senatorial districts.

On youth development, he explained that the Oborevwori administration is deploying wide-ranging socio-economic initiatives to reduce unemployment.

These include skills acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship support, and job creation efforts through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Girl Child Development, Ministry of Women Affairs, the State Bureau for Job and Wealth Creation, and the D-CARES programme, among others.

“The government under Governor Oborevwori will continue empowering youths through skills acquisition, grants, mentorship for young entrepreneurs, and the creation of job opportunities across several sectors,” he said.

Addressing security issues, Dr. Oghenesivbe stated that the governor is implementing strategic measures to combat criminality, including raising funds through the State Security Trust Fund to strengthen security agencies, as well as promoting community participation in crime prevention and intelligence reporting.
