In a decisive move to bolster security and enhance community protection, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday presented 49 vehicles to security agencies operating across the state’s Local Government Areas.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Government House in Lokoja, underscored the administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and fostering a safer society. While handing over the vehicles, Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to concerned citizens who patriotically contributed to the initiative, noting that their support has reinforced the state’s security framework.

“This gesture demonstrates that security is a shared responsibility. More individuals are now coming forward to support this effort,” the governor said, urging others, including corporate bodies, to invest in the state’s security architecture. “Together, we can make Kogi a safer place for all.”

Governor Ododo also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as “unwavering support” in the state’s ongoing security operations. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies to ensure Kogi remains a safe haven for its people. All donated vehicles, he added, are fitted with trackers for effective monitoring and accountability.

Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, retired Air Vice Marshal Umar Omeiza, described the donation as a practical demonstration of government support for security agencies. He emphasized that logistics—such as vehicles and motorcycles—are critical in boosting operational efficiency.

“Security is everyone’s business, especially when it comes to timely sharing of information,” Omeiza said, urging beneficiaries to use the vehicles responsibly.

State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Duro Omadara (rtd), stated that the Ododo administration remains “a milestone ahead of all criminal elements,” stressing that they are constantly staying ahead of bandits and kidnappers. He also called on companies operating in the state to emulate the gesture and contribute meaningfully to its development.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Nasir Bello Kankarofi, commended the governor for the intervention, assuring that the security agencies would put the vehicles to judicious use, noting the strong collaboration among them.

“Investment in security is investment in lives and livelihoods,” he added.
